ABOUT ME
hi! my name is emma maclaughlin-barck. i’m a third year undergraduate student at uw-madison, pursuing degrees in both textile design and spanish, as well as a certificate in sustainability. i’m fascinated by the intersection of culture, environment, and textiles; and i enjoy applying my studies in the interdisciplinary field of sustainable textile production.
as a designer, i embrace fluidity and change through designs inspired by personal experiences from all stages of life. i’m especially drawn to my connections to the natural environment and how it is ever evolving. using trend forecasting in combination with natural inspirations, my work embodies modern design with a vintage, handcrafted touch. through my prints, weavings, and embellishment, i emphasize emotional connection and creativity, driving towards a more sustainable and ethical future for textile design and production.
